Tips to Crack the First School Interview
“The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet.” These words tell us about the struggle of getting our toddlers to cross their first life hurdle – their first school interview.
Following are a few tips to help a parent effectively prepare their child for an interview in a primary school in Singapore.
Get a plan and stick to it: Ensure to set a specific time for homework or general reading on a daily basis and get involved with your child for this specific period of time.
Be a cheerleader for your child: Always encourage your children by praising them for their efforts. Make your child feel good for their efforts.
Cleanliness lessons: Inculcate values of cleanliness in your child. Hygiene is essential, and you should teach your children how to clean their hands, prevent spitting in public, throwing wrappers outside a window, etc.
Devise a plan: Involve your kids in daily household activities like putting away their dishes, arranging toys, etc. Identify your child’s shortcomings and work hard to get them to overcome.
Some sample questions generally asked at interviews are:
Identify the shape.
Your most loved cartoon?
Tell the names of your siblings?
What is your favourite colour?
Your favourite nursery rhyme?
Which animal do you like most?
Identify the flower, and what colour is it?
Name the vegetable in the picture.
In today’s competitive world, the admission process in schools has become more complex. Preparing a child for the new atmosphere and acquainting them for his first interaction requires much energy.
